Celebrating Our First Year

As June comes in, local florist, Butterflies of Blairgowrie celebrates it's first full year of business in our town.

From it's early days in Leslie Street to it's more prominent position in the High St, it has been a firm trend setter and supporter of our local economy as well as local good causes under the direction of it's owner Beatriz Custodio-Strachan.

A year on, Beatriz continues to stand by the principles that inspired the opening of the first shop and the progressing of the business in its new location, continuing to champion environmental issues while providing a highly professional and friendly service:

  • Being Ecologically friendly
  • Supporting the local economy
  • Selling a majority of flowers and plants from local growers
  • Zero air miles flowers
  • Fairly traded flowers and plants

Since it's opening, Butterflies of Blairgowrie has been selling a wide variety of flowers, plants and herbs, the majority of which are provided by local growers. These are sold alongside tea and coffee from the Forest Alliance (fair trading organisation) and handmade natural beeswax candles as well as handmade cards and artwork produced by local artists. More recently their customers have benefited from a joint initiative with the Blairgowrie Cookshop. This collaboration has resulted in the creation of a stunning and chic range of floral gifts combining designer cookwear with eco-friendly stylish floral designs, thus producing a fantastic range of unique products.

Beatriz has several years of experience in facilitating the learning of floral design. Over the last year, regular floral design classes have been held in store and these are now a permanent fixture in their diary. The classes provide a fun and enjoyable creative environment.

Butterflies of Blairgowrie would like to thank all their customers and all the local people and businesses who have offered their continuous support and encouragement. Therefore to celebrate this first year, the shop will be opening its doors to welcome everyone to meet the people behind its achievements and success. Come and meet the local producers and artists throughout June and hear from them about what they do, and why they are so passionate about it.
